What is Project 365? Why am I doing this? More
importantly, why should you care?
The What, Why, When, and How of Project 365
The Six Aspects
The 6 Aspects I will focus on are:
3.Personal Finance Development
4.Health & Wellbeing
Career & Professional Development
Currently, I am a Senior Training & Development Specialist in Afghanistan, which is really just fancy for EFL Instructor. I never thought teaching was my calling, but after teaching English in Korea, I realized this was a path I wanted to take very seriously. In light of that revelation, I have decided to obtain a Masters of Education in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages).
In addition to my career as a teacher, I am also working towards part-time entrepreneurship and plan to turn my blog and book into additional sources of income.
I felt the Passion Planner would be a great tool to use to track the weekly and monthly goals in this aspect of my life.
Personal development, in my opinion, is the true key to success. It’s the one aspect of my life that effects all other aspects. In an effort to develop this area, I have committed to a 52 books in 52 weeks challenge. This challenge has me reading one book per week in the areas of personal development, spiritual development, personal finance, investing, entrepreneurship and more.
The Miracle Morning Companion Planner is sure to help me start my day off right by incorporating my personal development routine into the first few hours of me waking up. From waking up early, to dream boarding, to reading, and writing daily, I can only imagine how much I will have grown by the end of the year. I’m looking forward to this positive shift.
Personal Finance Development
It’s no secret that I haven’t always been smart with my finances, but last year I stopped making excuses and took CONTROL. Through hard work and dedication, I managed to increase my salary by 5 times in less than one year! In addition to that, I managed to put $20,000 into my company 401k, and I managed to build an emergency fund of $8,000 (which due to many unexpected family issues has been depleted…BUT STILL!!).
This year, I plan to delve even deeper into my personal finance journey by paying off over $50,000 worth of student loans, $10,000 worth of commercial debt, build an emergency fund of $10,000, max out my 401k contribution ($18,500), save $10,000 for a travel fund, and invest $40,000 into a Vanguard Total Stock Market Index Fund! This may sound extremely ambitious for 26 year old woman, but I am positive that with my handy dandy Personal Finance Planner and my uncanny ability to live below my means, I CAN DO IT!
Health & Well-Being
Last year was a rough time for me physically, because I had reached the heaviest I have ever been in my life. I was one of those super skinny girls who could eat anything and everything under the sun and NEVER GAIN A POUND. I still remember my mom’s sinister laugh, as she knew what would be waiting for me once life hit me!
And boy did life hit me like a friggin’ drive by! The woes of heartache from a bad breakup, depression from financial problems, and severe low self-esteem all led me down a dangerous path to an unhealthy obsession with all things carbs! I was a wreck!
This year, as I embark on my Project 365 journey, I plan to utilize my new kickass fitbook to track my eating, exercise regimen, and my self confidence, all with the hopes of being a much healthier woman by New Year’s Eve. I’ve given up the idea that I need to be a certain weight. I just want to feel better, healthier, and stronger!
Last year, I was able to visit 10 states and 5 new countries, and that was so beyond amazing for a gypsy girl like myself. I was born to travel and interact with people all over the world. It is my sincerest passion.
This year, I have placed major emphasis on my personal finance journey, so travel is not at the very top of my priority list, BUT what’s life without balance? I’ve decided to plan three trips this year, where I will visit my first African countries: Morocco and South Africa.
I plan to use this awesome dual Trip Planner and Travel Journal to plan and document my experiences in these two countries as well as the states I’ll be visiting. I’m looking forward to this journey to the Motherland!
This year, as I embark on my Project 365 journey, I will be bringing this lovely human along for the ride, as our relationship grows, my goal is to make him the happiest man in the world.-He says he already is, so I guess I don’t need 365 days to fulfill this goal. We have a huge announcement to make this year so stayed tuned!
A Selfish Journey
We’ve been told our whole lives that to be selfish is a bad thing, but I’d like to challenge this belief this year. I can’t be good to or for others if I don’t have my own shit together. I can’t be a good influencer if I haven’t even reached the level of success I’m so-called “coaching” others to reach. Who wants to take life advice from someone whose life is all discombobulated? I know I wouldn’t. I want my followers to take me seriously, and to see me as an influencer in my niche.
Taking the time to get my life in order is not just about me, it’s about you all too! If I am able to do it right before your eyes, it will give you the motivation you need to stop making excuses and take the next steps in your life. The transparency of someone else’s strife is sometimes just what we need to give ourselves that extra push to design our own Project 365.
You know that really popular quote that states, “Be silent about your goals…?” Well, while I do believe that statement has some merit to it, I’d rather be vocal about my goals this year so that I can be held accountable by my friends, family, and followers. Obviously, there are people, aka haters, in the world who would love nothing more than to see me fail. The majority, however, truly want to see me win.
When we announce our Project 365 to the world, we give them power, and we let the Universe know we are ‘bout dis’ life!. Simply put, when you put out there what you want to accomplish, the pressure is on to be a man or woman of your word. That’s how I feel, and that’s why I’m putting it all out there into the blogosphere!
I’ve set the highest expectations for myself this year, because I know that I am more than capable of achieving everything I’ve planned to achieve. I expect the following:
- read 52 books in 52 weeks
- be debt free
- have a net worth of at least $80,000
- generate at least $2,000 a month in extra income
- have 80% of my degree completed
- be in the best shape of my life
- travel to two African countries and at least three states
- change my last name
- have an Instagram following of 10,000
- get closer to God, family, and friends
I expect that my efforts will lead to professional, personal, financial and above all, spiritual growth beyond my wildest dreams.
In the end, I hope this personal journey inspires someone to take CONTROL of their life, and begin making changes that can enhance all aspects of their life.
The truth is this:
If my journey, no matter the difficulty, leads to the alleviation of someone else’s suffering then it will not be a selfish one at all. When you win, I win. When I win, you win. Simple as that.
My question for you is: What are YOUR 2018 goals?
