Who am I, you ask? Let’s start at the beginning.
Who I was...
Just a little bit about me… I graduated from Duquesne University, a private, Catholic university in Downtown Pittsburgh in May of 2013. I’m a Leo, and for those of you who are into astrology that should tell you A LOT about me (minus the cocky-over confident part because that’s definitely not me). Like many recent graduates, I found it very hard to jump into a career and start making a living after graduation. I majored in International Relations because I am intrigued by other languages and cultures, but as I approached graduation, working for the government became less and less appealing to me. I was truly stuck. I fell into a deep state of depression soon after graduation. I thought I had it all figured out, but life had other plans. I made irresponsible decisions, I racked up debt, student loans started coming in, and I was gaining an astronomical amount of weight! I couldn’t stand to look at myself anymore because I was so embarrassed at what my life looked like. It was only when I stopped feeling sorry for myself, prayed to God, and became more proactive that things truly began to change. I stopped looking at what I didn’t have and started being grateful for all that I had accomplished up to that point. In fall 2014, I started working on a cruise ship in Hawaii, and that experience changed my life. It was the best decision I could have made during that time. That ship life experience, which you can read about below, led me to who I am today.

Who I am....
Today I am a Guest English Teacher with the EPIK Program in Gangwon do Province, South Korea. I am responsible for teaching conversation English to elementary, middle, and high school students as well as a small number of Korean teachers. I am located in a very rural area, and my overall quality of life has vastly improved. Living here has been a blessing and a challenge. If you want to know more about my experience teaching English in Korea stay tuned because I am currently writing a book on my experience. Teaching here has opened up so many doors for me, and I’m excited to take full advantages of those opportunities. My contract is coming to an end here, and I am planning my 6-month retirement. After retiring, I plan to resume working in the language program in Madrid, Spain. This will be the perfect opportunity to brush up on my Spanish skills, teach in a major city in Europe, and explore what the continent has to offer this Passionate Gypsy! Which brings me to my future goals…

Who I hope to be...
I have this burning desire to explore the world around me, and I’ve decided that I prefer to do it now as opposed to waiting until I’m old, overworked, and living on a skimp retirement check. I’ve decided to forfeit the “American Dream” that consists of a good job, liveable salary, white picket fence, and two week/ year vacation for a much more exciting and fulfilling lifestyle. I want to be a WORLD CITIZEN! I want to travel the world, and I want you to join me. Listen, I’m 25, single, no kids, and nothing but endless opportunities to design my own life! If I want to RETIRE EVERY OTHER YEAR THEN DAMNIT THAT’S WHAT I’M GOING TO DO! Just typing that gets me excited! I don’t want to let fear of the unknown keep me from chasing my dreams. I want to experience it all: everything from backpacking, to volunteering, to WOOFing, to workaway, to housesitting, to au pairing, to becoming a governess, and International ESL instructor, to taking luxury vacations, to joining the Peace Corps, and to becoming a successful author just to name a few. My point is, I can do it all if I really want to. There are people already out here doing all of these things. I named this blog Passionate Gypsies because that’s how I see myself-someone who loves the idea of traveling around, and making the world my home. Mark my words, this blog is just the beginning. I created it so that you and I can dream and transform together. I don’t want to just talk about it, I want to be about it. I want to inspire young, like-minded individuals like you to not settle for a life that society has designed for you. I want to challenge all the Passionate Gypsies out there to take charge of their life EARLY so you will never have any regrets. When we look back on our lives, I want all of us to be able to say we lived it to the fullest. F the school debt! F the credit card debt you racked up in college! Suck it up! It happened! We can’t take it back! Learn from it, pay that ish off! And let’s get the hell out of here!
